Mrs. Joy Tan, an Edge teacher at Barnstable, has a BA from National University of Singapore and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum & Teaching from Teachers College, Columbia University.

Before coming to Barnstable, she spent many years teaching in Singapore schools, a NYC charter school and a private school in NY. She loves to employ Singapore Math teaching strategies to increase students’ conceptual understanding. She believes that every educator should impart concepts and skills which can benefit their students for life — “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” In her spare time, she loves to try out recipes and tinker in her garden.
